Among other things, Antarctic Heritage Trust conservators found a 100-year-old fruitcake wrapped in paper and encased in the remains of a tin-plated iron alloy tin. It is believed that British explorer Robert Falcon Scott likely brought the cake to Antarctica during their 1910-1913 Terra Nova expedition. According to the Antarctic Heritage Trust explorers, the fruitcake is in excellent condition and looks and smells almost edible.
