Analysis: Why The Walking Dead Can’t Afford To Kill Off Another Major Character

As we look forward to the Season 8 premiere of The Walking Dead and what may be the worst start to the series since season 3, the show still remains one of the leading series in AMC’s recent history. While last season wasn’t nearly its best, as the chart below shows, the average viewership was still nearly 3x of Breaking Bad’s final season.

Considering that The Walking Dead is an absolute winner, it’s exactly the reason why the declining views for the last two seasons might be a concern for all involved. As one might assume, the show peaked around season 5 and has naturally started to regress since then.
